Exploring individuality as a mass consciousness.Discovering how in wanting to be different, we are all the same. I use the camera as a way to see the truth. Being shy as a kid I could hide behind the lens to spy on people,to capture them unawares when they revealed themselves. People reveal themselves in many ways - through their faces,their clothes, and the places they live as well as the things they keep,display or discard. When I have a camera in my hand, I notice more.I slow down enough to see the details and the beauty there. What looks ordinary can be pretty extraordinary on closer inspection. There's beauty in everything. It's my meditation practice - the art of being there. Originally from the UK, with a background as a creative director in Advertising - Soul River has realized my dream of hosting a space for creativity to flourish, providing fertile transformative growth through creativity for myself and others who dare to join in this mad & crazy quest. Adonna and her art.
People’s inspiration for their art come in many forms. Here is Adonna’s story….One night back in 1970 Adonna & a friend were driving along the back roads from Florida to Colorado in a van when they saw an extraordinarily bright light. Her friend, who was driving, lost control of the van and veered into a field towards the light. The next thing they remember was looking at each other with their hair standing on end with
static filled with fear. They sped off from the scene and within hours forgot their experience as if it was wiped from their memories and they never spoke of that evening again. In 1999 Adonna came back in contact with the memories of that night. The catalyst being a rock left as a birthday present in the campground in Big Sur where she was working. It was shaped like a snakehead and she used it as a footstool. A few weeks later - on closer inspection she realized the entire rock was made of petrified snakes. Adonna decided to give the rock to the Hopi Indians in Arizona as snakes are sacred to them.She told the Snake Priest of vague recollection of her experience in Florida and he told her to go to Sedona & meet with Sakina, She bumped into her by chance when she heard 3 women talking about the Plaiedians. Sakina then referred her to Robert Shapiro a channeller. Robert explained that the white light that she saw in the field was a spacecraft. She was taken on board into a room where she was seated & attached to some sort of apparatus where she watched a light energy in air - holographically. The images were made of light and resembled writing. As she was absorbing this light she was also receiving information as if she was learning galactic history. Fascinated by this show, when it finished she asked for more but the extra terrestrial explained that with what she already absorbed her intelligence had already increased by 3%. If her new understanding expanded anymore if may make her life too uncomfortable. Shapiro told her she was going to bring back the language she had seen on the craft. She would begin drawing after a dream and these drawings would be able to trigger coded information stored in one’s DNA - assisting us in understanding our heritage & our latent abilities. Adonna had in fact began writing these symbols 3 months prior to the trip which confirmed what Robert Shapiro was saying was true. These galactic writings flowed out of her. She would scribble them down on any surface she could find. They started as in simple black and white columns. Each one is unique and seemed to be a composite of other ancient languages. These writings continued for 8 years. From 2005 – 2007 her work start to contain color and movement. From 2007 – until now she discovered a method to capture light in her work with the use of tuning forks and electro-magnetics and by painting with gold on suede. Her intention is to incorporate sound enabling one to actually hear the frequency of her work.
